Family Sunday

Family Sunday is a designated Sunday each month when the River Heights Utah Stake gives special emphasis to worship in the home and sacred family time. On Family Sunday, leaders, presidencies, and councils do not hold meetings, interviews, or other ward or stake activities outside of the two hours of regular church services.

Family Sunday is generally the 3rd Sunday of every month. In months with General Conference or a Sunday holiday, that day is considered Family Sunday instead. It is offered as a principle, not a law — bishoprics may still briefly meet before sacrament meeting, leaders may attend to urgent needs, and similar exceptions apply.

The purpose is simple: by collectively prioritizing the sacrament, second hour, and worship in the home over other meetings and activities, we strengthen individuals and families and remember that the home is the center of Sabbath worship.
